Campbell's group tarnishes the Liberal brand.

noting to celebrate - esp with the likely loss of STV

I'm a Liberal. If you don't like the direction the party is headed, join, and change it.

I'm a Liberal, born and raised. I would never, EVER, work under the banner of the NDP, or Conservatives of any ilk.

I'm a proud Grit. Stand up for your colors...

I live in BC. The BC Liberals are basically a small 'c' conservative party.

That's the point, Campbell is not a Liberal.

By supporting Campbell you're supporting a conservative of the kind you say you'd never support.

Doesn't matter, the western provinces are lost until Canwest and CTV go down.

Come on man, they're nothing but Socreds in Liberal clothing, and we all know it. I'd agree with NPoV, there's nothing much to celebrate, particularly in light of STV going down to defeat. A very disappointing outcome overall.

How charming. You make assumptions about me and then show your political shallowness.

I am a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. I joined after Harper was elected as I believed it was the only realistic way of helping to save my country. I hold out little hope of changing it for the time being under the current leadership but will continue my support until we get rid of the reformer-thugs now in charge.

Campbell's group of right wing ex-socreds brings ill repute on my party by sharing our name.

And I would work under any banner that I believed represented the (small-L) liberal values that I represent.

Grow up.

How can one stand up for your colours when the colours have tarnished and vandalized.

The BC "Liberals" are conservatives by any other name. All former Socreds, federal Conservatives and neanderthals who stole the good Liberal name and turfed Gordon Wilson (a good, true and dedicated Liberal) to deceive British Columbians when Social Credit tanked. I wouldn't be caught dead in a party that contained the very idiots we're trying to take down federally.

The only provincial party for truly progressive Liberals is, in fact, the NDP.

Yabbut Drew, they're called "Liberals" so what else matters.
I hate to think how many brain-dead voters like WG were part of that 4% margin the LINOs won by.

Comment moderation... sucks as always, no matter what flag one happens to be flying.

You need more Liberals working for the Provs. In Quebec that is the only way we can pull Charest back to the centre. Campbell's Libs are like the QC Libs, and umbrella party. Sign up, get involved, and change the way the Party works. That's what I've done here in QC, and that is the only way that you can do it in BC.

nPOV... I'm not making any assumptions. You may be (about me). I'm simply looking at BC (my new home) in a more objective light. Having lived in Sask, AB, and now BC, I see little difference between the Liberal Parties in all 3 provinces. You adapt to the region, and the public you work with. Look at the LP PQ.

I can bet you that the "conservatives" in the LP BC (the small number there are) will go running back to the Reform or Conservative banner over the next term, as the government starts to see the 3rd term blues...

Coalitions don't live forever - ask Mulroney. Ask Harper (his days are numbered). The big tent BC Libs are bound to see the tent shrink in the next little while... It's inevitable. The Liberal Party, will still be the "Liberal" Party...

My apologies if you think I was "assuming" anything about you. I don't think insults are a very adult response, however.

WG:
If my admonishment to grow up was taken as an insult, I too apologize.

But it was meant in the context of what I considered to be your naive comment about "born-and-raised, standing up for colours" etc. It sounds childish to me.

While your heritage is of course an influence, far better to assess current issues and decide from there.

Haven yet read your lengthy post on this today
