Young Liberals Establish Strong Presence In Quebec

It has become apparent over the past several months that Stephen Harper and the Conservatives have all but given up on Quebec.  This is due partly because of a hard right policy which doesn't appeal to Quebec, but is mainly due to the new leader of the LP of C - Michael Ignatieff.

While we know how this battle is playing out on the streets and in the corridors of power, there is another very interesting movement occurring in Quebec, and across the land.  A vigorous youth campaign is in motion, and it is putting Liberals and liberal values front and center.

John Lennard - candidate for the Presidency of the Young Liberals - is at the center of this movement.  John has run an exceptional campaign from coast to coast to coast.  He and his team have engaged Young Liberals, and indeed all Liberals in a quest to tie this land together with ideas and a message of unity.

Late last night we here at WesternGrit were apprised of an amazing number of endorsements for John coming from Quebec (via a prominent Quebec Liberal).  This Young Liberal from Northern Ontario has received endorsements from key youth in much of Quebec... his list reads like a "who's who" of Quebec politics.  Julien Gagnon (President of the Youth Commission of the Quebec Liberal Party) recently stated, "John Lennard has demonstrated tremendous leadership and a strong understanding of the issues and priorities facing Quebec.  I look forward to working with YLC to set and achieve common objectives as we reach out to Quebec youth".  The youth chairs of BOTH major Montreal municipal parties have also endorsed John for the YLC Presidency.

Speaking with John's team over the past few weeks, it is apparent this young man realizes the importance of Liberal gains in Quebec, and his Quebec campaign has been focused on this.

The growth of youth support in Quebec, and across Canada, (in no small part due to this YLC campaign) will ensure a strong base of volunteers and ideas for the party.  Young men like John Lennard will lead the charge as our party takes back ridings from the Conservatives and NDP in Quebec.

The future of the Liberal Party is very bright indeed...

I like Samuel Lavoie better.
I'm not interested in lists of names.

Wow great list! Arent all three candidates for president from Quebec?

From what I've seen, John's been campaigning hard from coast to coast. With each new campaign release, he seems to gather more and more endorsements.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a "who's who" list of endorsements from every province!

Sam, the guy who promises jobs to anyone who supports him anon?

Its good to see the Quebec Liberal Party youth and the YLCQ finally coming together over something.

Good for you!

I was originally backing Sam, but if the guy can't even win over his own home province how can he really grow the YLC? Lennard is an OYL guy who in less than a year built enough support in Quebec to win the province.

Interesting list of people from Quebec... How many of them are delegates I wonder? How many of them are Young Liberals? I think of few names have aged out, but I could be mistaken. Its funny that John has so much support in Quebec, considering Sam seems to have overwhelming support in John's home province of Ontario...

Sam is the way!

I find this almost funny since Sam released a cheesy list of endorsements before he even listed platform points.

The only thing I can see with this list is that John really has the full support of several liberals from different horizons because HE really works for the Party where it counts ... He works with people

Im really suprised because when you can't even have the support of the liberal candidate in your own riding .. Longueuil .. Stop telling people that you're "actively" involved in the Party .. come on ...

John all the way!!

On est avec toi John!!

Even funnier is the fact that his newest release of endorsements contain the exact same names!

As an ordinary YL, I want to vote for the one who gains the most support and releases the most comprehensive platforms. So far, the obvious winner is John Lennard.

Sam is so active in the Liberals that he was nowhere to be found during the Québec prov election in addition to the fed election. I know this because i'm actually from Longueuil.

John works hard in Quebec, which is why we stand with him. He was with us in the federal election and he was with in the provincial election. Sam was no where to be seen. Once he is elected president is he going to disappear again? My guess is yes. He's done it before to us here.

And for the record, Sam doesn't have Ontario. That's a misconception. He has a few OYL exec members, but the membership largely supports John.

Interesting post as for me. It would be great to read more about this matter. The only thing your blog needs is some pictures of any gizmos.
