Interesting how the universe imploded (some would have you think) when the federal long-gun registry came to fruition... From day one the attacks (from Reform-a-Tory Republi-Cons, of course) came in regarding the lack of ability to call into the registry. Conservative gun-apologists used this as an excuse to criticize the registry - as well as a reason they wouldn't register their arms.
Now, the government runs a new "registry" of sorts - the "do not call" list - and where's the uproar. Judging by the news reports, the "do not call" list call center cannot handle the call volumes. No-one wants to speak to telemarketers. No-one. I'm sure I spend hundreds of dollars of my precious time each month, just answering ridiculous calls from solicitors who just don't know the word "no"....
Anyone venture a guess why the gun-whackos aren't belly-aching about this one?
